Yoga Instructor Atlanta
Laura is an Atlanta Yoga Instructor and she needed some images to promote her business so we set up a local Yoga Photography shoot. She also came to Destin FL where at a time I was doing some other portrait shoots to get some symbolic yoga images. It was well worth the trip to get the images you see below. We plan to do shoots every month to keep her website and social media full of recent photo shoots.
Brief Yoga Origins
Thanks to the Indus-Sarasvati civilization from Northern India, the practice of Yoga began over 5,000 years ago. It was a religious ritual done mostly by the Vedic priests. Patanjali’s Yoga-Sûtras systematically defined the practices of Yoga during the Classical Period. He created the 8-limb system in order to have a written pathway to Samadhi, or enlightenment. Post-Classical yoga focuses more on the physical body, creating practices that prolonged life and rejuvenated the body. At the time, they believed this was the way to enlightenment. At the turn of the 20th century, yoga masters began moving west, spreading the practice. It was not until 1947, when a studio opened in Hollywood, that yoga became more mainstream in the western world. Today, it is widely popular around the world.
Yoga Photography
Since yoga is such a calming activity, it’s no surprise that it became so popular with photographers. With the rise of photography, and eventually social media, came the rise of Yoga Photography. Today, many photographers around the world enjoy creating that zen feeling with their photography. Now, check out some examples from a shoot we did on the beach. We hope you enjoy them!
