What Type of Business Portrait Is Right For You?

Taking a good Atlanta business portrait is not always the first picture you take in the photo shoot. As a matter of fact, it is very seldom that the best shot of the day is the first few that you take. If a formula for taking the perfect picture every time is what you are looking for in this blog, I’m sorry to tell you that you won’t find it here. Actually, you won’t find it anywhere. In my experience as a commercial photographer, it takes a lot of trial and error to make sure you grab the best picture!

Business Headshot

Everyone loves to hate a cliche. Well, cliches exist for a reason. They work. A typical head shot, like you can see in this first collection of images, is a powerful statement. Because of the close subject and simple poses, these shots have a familiar quality that cannot be denied. They are great for commercial use because they give you a sense of familiarity while also hinting at the personality of the subject. These head shots are good for businesses, entrepreneurs, and professionals in any field.

Extended Headshot

Oftentimes, clients want to do something different than your standard black-background headshot. Extended Headshots show a variety of poses and angles while incorporating different backgrounds. So, in a sea of familiarity, how do you stand out? Well, a great way to add a little variety to your photos is to make subtle changes to the shot. Some examples include changing the angle, the lighting, or the subject’s pose. Tinting the camera to the side or positioning the subject out of the middle of the shot can make a huge difference in the final product. This change in dynamic is one of the many ways to enhance your photo shoot.

Company Headshots

Companies often need headshots for a large group of their employees. No matter what kind of company you are a part of, a good headshot is always an important thing to have.

Branded Business Portrait Shoot

Whether you are a musician, doctor, or interior designer, a branded portrait shoot will help you promote your brand creatively. Branded portraits are an excellent way for you to demonstrate personality, products, and confidence to potential clients. A good brand photographer will help you use facial expressions, body language, props, fashion, backgrounds, and lighting to present yourself in a brilliant way. Many professionals don’t only want formal, head-to-shoulders business head shots. Branded portraits are a more modern, less formal alternative that can allow you to express yourself uniquely.

Now, take a look at this designer and makeup artist. He used his branded portrait to emphasize his expertise in fashion and makeup through glamour and models.

Environmental Portraits

Another embellishment that can be very effective in creating a dynamic head shot is the addition of props. The utilization of the environment of your photo shoot is a great way to make the end result pop! By adding a pen and paper, some personal items of the subject, or changing the background of your shoot, and even shooting on-location, you create a head shot full of personality for your client. This type of head shot is what we like to call a Branded Head Shot, which means it is geared more towards a targeted audience, and it has a lot of the client’s personality. Below are some examples of our work!

Branded Headshot for Social Media

Social media is a huge part of marketing and showcasing our daily lives. Clients should look into a branded social media shoot at least once a month to get a wide variety of shots to post on social media, websites, etc. This is incredibly important in today’s world, as many potential clients and business partners are networked online.

Take a look at Lucy, a clothing designer. She wanted branded portraits that showed off her unique style and the clothes she makes. These shoots were important to her so that she could show off her clothing line on her website and social media.

We hope you enjoyed a look at our collection. Like all other aspects of photography, commercial photography and portraiture takes a lot of creativity. Hopefully these tips will help you develop your personal commercial style. Now go out, and start shooting!
